Position Goal: Assist Physician(s) in Clinic with patient care activities. Complete administrative duties as required. Assist through greeting, registering and directing patients. Perform a variety of administrative functions that ensure charges are collected, posted and charged as necessary.
 
Position Responsibilities:
  • Familiarity with what the physician requires for a productive clinic.
  • Review and maintain charts to ensure completeness.
  • Escort patient from waiting area to triage area, ranging from those patients with full mobility to limited mobility. Constant monitoring of schedules and patient flow during clinic to ensure maximum efficiency/organization.
  • Conduct initial vital signs evaluation to include any lab specimens
  • Remove staples, sutures, and assist with minor surgical procedures as needed
  • Assist with placement, removal, and instruction of devices such as splints, immobilizers, braces, and bandages
  • Clean and sterilize equipment using approved techniques
  • Greet and register patients
  • Schedule return appointments and maintain patient chart
  • Collect co-pays and deductibles
  • Prepare daily balance sheets
  • Review and edit daily bank deposits and deposit report
  • Preparation of daily cashiers report
  • Post daily charges to patient accounts
  • Enter daily charge data and balance daily transactions
  • Enter/update patient demographic data
  • Distribute work and school excuses to patient as needed
  • Track “ no show” appointments
  • Schedule initial appointments
  • Verify insurance benefits/eligibility and document in the computer system
  • Verify/obtain referral numbers or authorizations for upcoming appointments
  • Scan scripts and reports into R-file
  • Print off new scripts and therapist schedules at the beginning of the day
  • Answer telephone
  • Send reports to physician secretaries and or medical assistants
Experience: MA certification or minimum one (1) year experience preferred but not required. Experience in medical office setting preferred. Requires computer experience. Knowledge of AthenaNet and medical terminology preferred.
Education: High School or equivalent required, and MA certification a plus
Special Qualifications: Must be able to work independently and have working knowledge of HIPAA requirements. Maintains CPR certification. Knowledge of the health care field and medical specialty.
