Position Goals: Assist physicians and other staff members with care of patients in producing high quality radiographs and casting duties.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Must have command of radiographic technique.
  • Must have command of PACS and be able to assist other staff members as needed.
  • Responsible for understanding and carrying out radiology requisitions and views.
  • Memorize what views each physician requires on exams.
  • Assist patients in getting into the positions required to get the radiographs needed with the occasional need to lift the patient.  Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Requires vast knowledge of muskuloskeletal anatomy.
  • Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
  • To assist with and provide direct training and supervision to student technologists.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order.  Reports any malfunction to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Escort patients from waiting area to cast room for analysis of their needs for treatment
  • Remove and apply casts, both fiberglass and plaster and other appliances as required
  • Assist in fracture reductions and minor surgical procedures
  • Remove sutures, staples, and apply bandages
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment
  • Triage cast patients with problems in absence of physician if necessary
  • Knowledge of fracture care coding along with CPT and ICD-10 codes
  • Stocks necessary supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
Experience: One-year experience preferred.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of course work in radiologic technology approved by the ARRT. Current ARRT certification. TN licensure required.
Special Qualifications: Must be able to work independently. Must maintain CPR certification.  Must be able to work a staggered shift. Must have working knowledge of HIPPA
